“There’s No Place Like SLO” – Christmas Parade and State Officer Visit

Another busy week in the Ag Department, including a state officer visit from Sydnie Sousa and Danielle Diele and participating in San Luis Obispo’s 40th Annual Holiday Parade. The parade was on December 4th, 2015, with the theme “There’s No Place Like SLO”. It runs through the streets of downtown and had over 70 different floats showing spirit this year.

Our passionate members were sure to continue on dancing throughout the entire parade route, especially enthusiastic when Mariah Carey came on!

Our float consisted of passionate, enthusiastic, and excited members spreading holiday cheer as they show pride in their Ag department. All of our members were encouraged to participate in this event and many took the opportunity. We had our kids dancing and singing all the way down the streets with the loudest music in the whole parade playing from our float. Having fun with playing Mariah Carrey and doing the dance to The Cupid Shuffle allowed our members to truly dance the night away!

A HUGE thank you to Mike Cole Farms for providing SLO FFA with a semi truck to decorate and ride on throughout the parade. We are eternally grateful for the community support we receive!

As for the officer visits, Sydnie Sousa and Danielle Diele blew us away with their leadership workshops. We captured the whole workshop through the eyes of Sydnie Sousa with our departments new GoPro. To further reiderate the theme of the Christmas Parade in our chapter, we showed Sydnie and Dani around SLO the night before their workshops, and ate dinner at Firestone before creating some remarkable gingerbread houses. It was an honor to share in these activities and discover how we can improve our own life and our community. We appreciate how these two leaders connect with our members and inspire them to get involved in the FFA by finding what interests them and how they may pursue that passion.

SLO FFA enjoyed an incredible chapter visit from California State FFA Vice President, Sydnie Sousa, and Reporter, Danielle Diele. Such a fun time!
