Giving A Warm Welcome To Our Newest Student Teacher, Ms. Alexys Prado!

San Luis Obispo High School has its newest addition to the FFA chapter, Ms. Alexys Prado,

our new student teacher! Ms. Prado grew up in the small town of Strathmore, California, where agriculture was a central component in her life. Her family grew citrus such as oranges, lemons, and limes. She knew from a young age that she wanted to get involved in agriculture. Ms. Prado loves reading, going to the beach, and swimming! She is so excited to contribute to our chapter and be a part of the San Luis Obispo FFA family.

A Love for Leadership

Ms. Prado attended Granite Hills High School. She joined her high school's FFA chapter and got involved in everything she could. Ms. Prado participated in El Credo, Opening and Closing, and showed rabbits. Leadership in FFA drew her attention, and she later got involved in the job interview competition and other speaking competitions. Unfortunately, her junior and senior years of high school were COVID years, so she was unable to participate in many competitions. Despite this, Ms. Prado persevered, and she still continued to be actively involved in her chapter, serving as president for her last two terms.

Educational Background

Straight out of high school, Ms. Prado knew she wanted to pursue something in the Agricultural field. Knowing that she had a choice between going to Chico and Cal Poly, she decided to tour Cal Poly to make her final decision. While there, Ms. Prado was able to meet many of the Cal Poly faculty who told her about the program and helped her decide that Cal Poly was the best fit for her because of their learn- by- doing style of teaching. At Cal Poly, she majored in Agricultural Science with a focus on Plant Science and got a minor in Agricultural Education. While at Cal Poly, she worked as an inside milker and at the Cal Poly farm!

Values and Goals

Ms. Prado values teamwork and friendship. She credits a lot of her achievements to the help and support of people she's had along the way. During her time at San Luis Obispo High School, she is looking forward to working with the students. Ms. Prado admires the high amount of student participation. She is really excited to help students achieve their goals and share her knowledge. Ms. Prado wants to help students find their inner confidence within themselves because what matters is giving your best effort and putting your best foot forward. She is happy to answer any questions you may have, and SLO FFA is so happy to have her. If you see her around campus, wave and say hello!
