Twelve Tasks of Christmas – December Meeting Recap

On Monday, December 14, San Luis Obispo FFA members competed in our first annual Twelve Tasks of Christmas Extravaganza! Each team competed for the ultimate prize and the ability to  sign the prized stocking that now hangs in the agriculture department trophy case. The idea for this meeting came from our officer team and their listening to the classic Twelve Days of Christmas song a few too many times!

SLO FFA members took part in the annual photo taken at the December Meeting that is put in the yearbook to showcase our awesome spirit!

At each station, team members were required to do a pre-determined task to do with each twelve of the days, as sung in the song. At station 1 (Partridge in a Pear Tree), they were required to eat a pear without their hands; station 2 (Turtle Doves), two team members crawled across the shop and back with their wrists and ankles tied together; station 3 (French Hens), a photobooth was set up for teams to take a picture with Santa and his hen; station 4 (Calling Birds), involved singing a Christmas carol; station 5 (Golden Rings), a human ring toss; station 6 (Geese a Laying), shaking ping pong balls-a.k.a. eggs-out of a wrapped present; station 7 (Swans a Swimming), diving into a bucket to get either a rubber duckie, ping pong ball or golf ball-all of which were worth different points; station 8 (Maids a Milking), using incredible hand-eye coordination to milk one of President Luke O’Leary’s goats; station 9 (Ladies Dancing), a choreographed dance for 15 seconds; station 10 (Lords a Leaping), a class game of leapfrog; station 11 (Pipers Piping), frosting cookies-the most creative of the stations; station 12 (Drummers Drumming), eating either an ice cream drumstick or a chicken drumstick in only 1 minute! But, SLO FFA also honored the holiday of Chanukah and added a station 13, where Treasurer Hannah Ryan led teams in a dreidel spinning competition.

This team showed incredible enthusiasm, especially at the cookie decorating station!

Great job to all the teams who competed in this incredibly competitive extravaganza! However, there was only one winner… The winning team was comprised of four girls who were amazingly spirited and showed their excitement for the holiday season and our FFA chapter: Dasha Novotny, Sophie Maino, Violet Udlock and Kaitlyn Howell.

Even the upperclass men got into this exciting meeting and came decked in holiday spirit!
