Chapter Officers Fly High at Officer Retreat

Written by: J’aime Radding

This June 2016-2017 chapter officer team traveled on a top secret retreat where they discovered more about each other, decided on a theme and began planning for the exciting year ahead. This year’s officer team consists of Kalena Cirone, Sophie Maino, Callan Truer, Darius Vigil, Carolyn Adams, Hannah Ryan, J’aime Radding and Lili Steel.

Starting at Vista Lago Adventure Park (after a short pick-me-up stop at the local Starbucks) the team geared up with courage and determination as they set out to conquer the challenging obstacle course. Shouts of encouragement filled the air as they stepped outside of their comfort zones and inspired each other to conquer their fears. The obstacle course really showed the team what they are able to do when they set their minds to a goal. The experience truly allowed them to develop trust and connections within the team.

After the exciting obstacle course the officer team headed out to the Morro Bay beaches to discuss our personal, team and chapter goals. This really helped the team learn more about each other and create new opportunities for our chapter. While the fog may have been rolling in heavily along the shore, it sure didn’t cloud the minds of the eager new officers.

Although the fog didn’t bother the team, the chill began to be a bit much so they packed up and headed to Advisor Mrs. Evans house for some mixers, team bonding and event planning. From attempting to balance on slim pieces of boards to throwing a beach ball around the living room, these exciting mixers allowed for team bonding and collaboration. After some fun planning for the exciting events ahead the team headed out for some dinner where they decided upon the theme for the upcoming year and filled themselves with delicious food.

Later in the evening the team shared personal information with the group about five items they had brought. President Kalena Cirone shared a small whistle which allowed her to make a small fortune on the street corners of Sweden. Sentinel Hannah Ryan attempted to play the whistle but couldn’t measure up to Kalena’s musical talents. Other items consisted of small pins showing Parliamentarian Lili Steel’s ability to lead her elementary school back in Australia when she was House and School Leader. Vice President Sophie Maino brought her dazzling retired gymnastics leotard representing all her hard efforts at the gym. Other items were more eccentric such as Historian J’aime Radding’s casts from when she broke her ankle. No matter what people shared This was a great way for them to relate to each other and connect on an emotional level.  They then headed home feeling very tired and bonded with each other.  These officers are very excited and ready to serve this year!
