2026 Greenhand Week Recap!
Written by Natalia Hernandez, Historian 26-27. October 25, 2026. Happy Greenhand Week! Our greenhands kicked off their celebration week from October 19-23 and spent time participating in events led by our Junior Officer team. On Monday, the Junior Officers went into Greenhand Ag classes and gave presentations on greenhand week and introduced the punchcards and activities for the week. On Tuesday, all of the Greenhands and the officers wore green clothes to represent themselves. On Wednesday, the Junior Officers hosted a donut breakfast for the Greenhands, where there was music, hand dying and putting handprints on the Greenhand posters. They got to mingle and meet new officers and fellow greenhands, and parts of the breakfast were things to be checked off on their punchcard. On Thursday, the Greenhands participated in a very fun scavenger hunt, and spent their time being introduced into all things FFA. On Friday, the Junior Officers hosted a pizza lunch for the Greenhands, where we taught them the iconic FFA dance, “Fishing in the dark” and were introduced to common games we often play during FFA meetings such as the Cup Game. To end the week, they turned in their punch cards and entered in a raffle to win some awesome prizes, including SLO FFA t-shirts. We are so excited for these new members to be apart of our program!! Way to get involved, step out of your comfort zone, and try new things!
