MRS. EVANS

Mrs. Evans is originally from Bakersfield, California, where she attended North High School.  Mrs. Evans became a 4-H Leader while attending Cal Poly,  San Luis Obispo which inspired her to become an agriculture teacher.  While at Cal Poly, Mrs. Evans earned a B.S. in Animal Science with an emphasis in Agribusiness and received her teaching credential in Agriculture.  She has been teaching for 17 years, 15 of which have been at SLOHS. Mrs. Evans coaches multiple Career Development Event (CDE) teams,  including Advanced Parli-Pro,  Prepared Public Speaking,  Floral, Marketing and Ag Sales. Mrs. Evans enjoys spending time with her husband, Brian, of 16 years and two boys, Ty (13) and Chance (9). She enjoys reading and outdoor activities.  She is looking forward to getting to know new SLOHS students both in and beyond her classroom, and to yet another great year.

MR. HALVERSON

Mr. Halverson is originally from Grass Valley, where he attended Bear River High School.  He later attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he received his teaching credential.  Science and math were always his interests, so teaching seemed like the perfect opportunity to share his knowledge.  Mr. Halverson has been teaching physics / science for seven years. He is excited to be starting his first year at SLO High, where he will be teaching two periods of Ag Integrated Science, Integrated Science, and coaching the boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams.  Outside of teaching and coaching, Mr. Halverson enjoys camping and hiking as well as spending time with his wife and baby son.  He is looking forward to a great volleyball season and getting to know all the students and staff of SLO High.

MRS. BATES

Mrs. Bates is originally from Huntington Beach, California, where she attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana.  She then attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in Animal Science with a concentration in Veterinary Medicine. She also has a masters degree in Agriculture Science and is currently working on a Doctor of Education in Agriculture Education, Leadership, and Communication through Texas A&M and Texas Tech Universities. She now has been teaching for 14 years, all  of which have been at SLOHS.  Mrs. Bates keeps busy coaching multiple CDE teams, such as Novice Parliamentary Procedure, Ag Issues, Creed, and Veterinary Science. Mrs. Bates enjoys going to the beach with her family, GW her husband and two sons, Stevie (7)  and Will (4). She is looking forward to encouraging all the new freshman to become involved in both leadership and science opportunities through agriculture this year.
