2017-2018 Chapter Officer Team

President: Sophie Maino


Sophie Maino is looking forward to a great year serving the San Luis Obispo FFA Chapter as your President. She is currently a senior at SLO High School. In the FFA she has competed the Impromptu, Creed, Novice Parli Pro, Advanced Parli Pro and Agricultural Issues contests. She has attended both state and national conventions and is excited to continue traveling with her CDE teams. She has enjoyed improving her leadership skills at conferences such as ALA, MFE, and GLC. Outside of public speaking Sophie enjoys raising swine for the Mid State Fair and playing sports. At SLOHS she plays varsity volleyball, dive, and track and field. Along with her sports she likes to get involved with the school through the Interact club, Harvard Model Congress, National Honors Society, and Key club. Sophie is looking forward to meeting and serving all the members of the San Luis Obispo Chapter!

Vice President: Hannah Ryan


Hannah is ecstatic to be serving as your 2017-2018 chapter Vice President. Hannah has been enrolled in Agriculture Education classes for four years, starting with Ag Integrated Science her Freshmen year. Hannah has shown a pig in the mid state fair and a lamb in 4H. She has competed on the novice and advanced parliamentary procedure teams and she intends to compete on the advanced parliamentary procedure team during this upcoming year. Hannah also competes in the Agriscience Research Project competition. She intends to compete with another project this year. She has attended a multitude of leadership conferences such as MFE, ALA, GLC, and State Conference. Outside of FFA Hannah enjoys playing soccer, swimming, and exercising. She is an avid dog lover and often spends her time cuddling with her dog Ziggy. Hannah also likes spending time at the beach and hanging out with her friends. Hannah is super excited for this upcoming year and serving the members of San Luis Obispo FFA!

Secretary: Riley O’Connor


Hey hey hey SLO FFA! Riley O’Connor is pumped to be serving as your 2017-2018 Chapter Secretary! Riley is a sophomore at SLO High and is ready to start her second year of involvement with FFA. She has competed on the Floriculture Team and in Opening/Closing ceremonies. She has also attended the Greenhand Leadership Conference and State Conference. This year she is excited to try some new speaking contests and getting to see what amazing things our chapter does. Outside of FFA, she plays on the SLOHS Girls’ Tennis and Basketball team. More than anything she loves her dog and being outdoors. Riley is very grateful to be serving you all this year!

Treasurer: Jade Norton


Jade Norton is incredibly excited to be serving as your 2017-2018 Chapter Treasurer. She is  currently a sophomore, and has competed at state for Creed and Novice Parliamentary Procedure. She has also attended GLC, California State Conference and will be competing at the National Convention. She is an active member in various college level music ensembles outside of school, and loves playing for the SLOHS Band program. Besides music, she loves to go outside as much as possible and enjoys staying active and hanging out with her friends. Jade Norton is looking forward to be serving you this year as your Chapter Treasurer!

Reporter: Lili Steel


Sentinel: Elena Grant

Elena is super excited to be serving as your chapter Sentinel this year! She is currently a sophomore and has enjoyed taking a variety of agriculture classes. Elena has competed in the Creed speaking contest as well as Opening and Closing Ceremonies, BIG, and Floral Design. She is also planning on showing an animal at fair this year and really wants to show a goat. She is a big plant lover and wants to include plants in her Agriscience Research project and hopefully go on to compete with it. Elena has attended Greenhand Leadership Conference as well as State Conference.  While she isn’t a huge animal person she loves going out to her family’s cattle ranch and working with her family. Elena loves to exercise and runs cross country and track for the high school. She likes to go on long walks with her dog and go Downtown with her family. Elena can’t wait to serve our chapter this year!

Historian: Bella Marden


Bella is ready for an incredible year serving as your 2017-2018 chapter Historian! This is Bella’s sophomore year at San Luis Obispo High School and she has taken agriculture courses from the sciences to leadership. She has competed in Opening Closing Ceremonies and the Poultry Judging CDE and hopes to continue on a judging team as well as try a speaking event this year. She attended the Greenhand Leadership Conference and State Conference her freshman year and expanded her confidence. Outside of FFA she is very involved in the local 4H club and is currently on SLO High’s varsity volleyball team. Bella has been showing chickens for the past 7 years through Edna 4H and also has shown sheep and dairy cattle at the California Mid State Fair. She will be taking another lamb to the fair as well as a replacement heifer with FFA this year. In 4H she spent two years on their officer team and has led many chicken show practices. Bella loves being involved with her community and giving back whenever she can; last year she received an award for 50 hours of service. Bella cannot wait to meet new faces in the San Luis Obispo FFA Chapter this year!
