San Luis Obispo FFA Chapter Committees
“Standing Committee”: Permanent / In our Chapter By-Laws / Happens all Year!
“Special Committee”: Temporary / Performs major task and then is done for the year.
Note: Students can be on more than one committee!
Is in charge of planning, purchasing, and organizing all the supplies for various BBQs put on throughout the year. Students on this committee learn how to properly prepare and cook tri-tip, chicken, beans, bread, and more. They are actively involved with SEVERAL BBQs, banquets, and functions. Standing Committee.
A Special Committee that primarily puts on the Greenhand Day Activities and the Greenhand Banquet in November. This committee plans all the activities for the Freshmen Ag Integrated Science classes for their special Greenhand Day (Donuts, Pizza, Green hands, Ag Awareness etc…) Directly targets the Freshmen class!
Standing Committee that writes Thank You notes to various people/ businesses for their support throughout the year. Also helps organize the Thank You gifts at the Year End Awards Banquet.
Special Committee that plans and implements daily activities for the Annual National FFA Week the third week in February. Activities to usually include Ag Awareness, Lunchtime Activity, Teacher Appreciation, Publicity, Radio Announcements, BBQ, and much more!
Standing Committee that works closely with the Chapter Reporter to publish and write articles in local newspapers, journals, and media. Purpose is to inform the general public and school about FFA and our students.
Special Committee that works on the FFA Day and booths at Laguna Middle School and any special events / publications involving informing incoming students about SLO FFA and the Agriculture Program.
Bulletin Boards / Decorations
Standing committee that maintains and updates all bulletin boards in the Ag Dept. Also helps make posters for FFA Meetings and Special Events. This committee also helps create the decorations for our Year End Awards Banquet.
Standing Committee that takes pictures at all FFA Functions and compiles our Chapter Scrapbook. This is an Official FFA Contest so extreme time and care is taken to do very creative and neat pages for each function. This committee will work very closely with the Chapter Reporter to complete the Scrapbook, due in March.
Standing committee that helps maintain and complete projects at the school farm. Building, welding, tractor driving and much more! Take pride in a huge FFA Livestock group and work to keep our farm functioning.
Standing committee. Purpose is to come up with and execute fundraisers to directly benefit our FFA Chapter. Money earned will go towards the FFA Meetings, Banquet, FFA Leadership Conferences, and Year End Point Awards trip. This committee is to work separately from the Aggie Backer parent booster club fundraising activities.
Standing Committee. “Living To Serve” is in the FFA Motto. This committee will brainstorm and come up with great ideas of community service projects our entire chapter and school can be involved with. Teaching students to give back to others and to help one another is a virtue the FFA serves to do. Past projects include canned food drives, Toys for Tots, Adopt a Solider, Helping at the Homeless shelter, and much more.
